We’ve added a ‘Top View’ to our Axle Weight Calculator app this month. Now you can see a bird’s-eye view when configuring vehicles, designing bodies, planning loads or reviewing Turning Radius.
To toggle between Top View and Side View, click the Elevation icon on the right of the vehicle drawing.
When adding vehicles, equipment, trailers or payload to our library now, we add top view drawings, where available. The example below shows the top view of a vehicle carrying a payload of brick pallets.
In future, the top view will also be used to demonstrate Lateral (Side-to-side) Center of Gravity information.
We have also made a slight change to the way dimensions are specified. You now define the Wheelbase dimension for your vehicle, rather than the spacing between front and rear axles.
Wheelbase is defined as follows:
- US & Canada: Distance from frontmost steering axle to center of the rear driven axle(s)
- Australia & New Zealand: Distance from frontmost steering axle to centre of the rear axle(s)
- United Kingdom & Ireland: Distance from frontmost steering axle to first rear driven axle
- South Africa: Distance from centre of front axle(s) to centre of the rear axle(s)
By default, your profile will acquire the Wheelbase setting relevant to your location, though you can change this in your Settings, as shown below.
Cost of Tires
Our Sales Tool’s Costing calculation now includes detailed costing for tires.
The Total Cost of Ownership calculation takes into account the number of tires on the vehicle, average tire life and average tire cost. Based on all of these inputs, you can calculate total cost of tires, as well as costs for each axle, the vehicle and trailer.
Compare More Vehicles
In the Sales Tool’s Vehicle Comparison module, you can now compare your vehicle to even more competitors, by filtering to include vehicles from a different vehicle class.
This month, we’ve added more vehicles from Croner, DAF, FUSO, Hino, International, Isuzu, Iveco, KIA, MAN, Peugeot, Powerstar, Scania, TATA, UD, Unimog, and Volvo. We’ve also added Cane Spill Bars, Compactors, Cranes, Fifth wheels, Fuel tanks, Hitches, Tailgates and Refrigeration units – from Anteo, Bell Equipment, Jost, Liebherr, Palfinger, Rockinger, Thermoking, and 600SA, as well as template trailers and payload items. These were added in response to requests from users in Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, and the United States. We are currently concentrating on creating complete libraries of vehicles for USA, Australia and South Africa, and users in these markets can request items to be added, on demand, at no additional cost.
NTEA Work Truck Show 2019
We’re planning to be at the NTEA’s Work Truck Show in Indianapolis from March 5–8 2019. The Work Truck Show is the must-attend event for the work truck industry in North America. We’re looking forward to meeting many of our customers there.
