This much sought-after feature is being released in an update to our Axle Weight Calculator today.
We’ve added semi-trailers in response to requests from users all over the world, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, Malaysia, Portugal, Thailand, UK and USA, where the semi truck goes by many different names, including truck tractor, tractor unit and prime mover.
To calculate axle weights for a semi-trailer, simply choose the fifth wheel for your semi truck, then add the semi-trailer, as well as a body and any ancillary equipment. You can specify your desired payload and modify your design to achieve it, or have the app calculate the maximum achievable payload for your configuration. You can also experiment with the kingpin position to see its effect on the weight distribution.

Vehicles Added
This month, we have added vehicles to our library from Daewoo, Dongfeng, FAW, Foton, Freightliner, FUSO, Hino, Hyundai, Isuzu, Iveco, Kenworth, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Sino and Tata, in response to requests from users in Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, Qatar, South Africa, Vietnam, USA. We’ve also added Nichi and Cesco Concrete Mixers for users in Australia.

Other Improvements
We’ve applied some further enhancements to the User Interface to improve the usability of the app. We have also put in a lot of work behind the scenes to improve performance, and have fixed some pesky bugs.
Next Up
We have a team of dedicated developers who work on monthly ‘sprints’ to release updates to the app. When our users request new features, we prioritise them for inclusion in future sprints. Some of the items at the top of our To Do list right now include Multiple Items of Cargo and Turning Radius.
