B-train Weight Distribution

B-train Weight Distribution 1024 355 TruckScience

We’ve added the 2-trailer B-train, B-Double or ‘Interlink’ combination in today’s update to the Axle Weight Calculator. With B-Double combinations a common sight on Australian roads, this feature is just in time for our visit to the Brisbane Truck Show next week!

A B-train combination consists of a truck tractor followed by 2 semi-trailers, each coupled by a fifth wheel.  The B-train configuration’s inherent stability is arguably its greatest advantage.  Known as an ‘Interlink’ in South Africa, it is also a popular combination on highways there, where distances are great and maneuverability is not a huge concern.

Team Library

When saving bodies, trailers, equipment or payload, now you can choose to save them to your ‘Personal’ or ‘Team’ library. Items saved to the Team library can be accessed by other users at your organization.  Of course, you’ll benefit from work already done by others too.

Views

We’ve re-organized the view buttons on the right of your screen, so you can more readily switch views on your calculation. From the top, you’ll find Weights and Dimensions, Bridge Formula, Center of Gravity and Turning Radius. Of course, you can also toggle from Side to Top view, which is particularly useful when reviewing lateral center of gravity points, or planning loads.

Library Updates

We’ve added more vehicles to our library, from FAW, Ford, Freightliner, Hino, International, Isuzu, Iveco, Kenworth, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Powerstar, Scania, Toyota and UD Trucks, as well as trailers from Afrit, Dynamix mixers, bodies by brands including Hardox & IceCold bodies, evaporators, fifth wheels by Jost and more.
Jost fifth wheels. These items were all added in response to requests from users in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, UK and USA.

We are concentrating on completing libraries of vehicles for USA, Australia and South Africa for now, and users in these markets can request individual items to be added to our library at no additional cost.
